Flush:

A flush is made up of five cards that are in the same suit, no matter what their numbers are. Here, you will win the hand in a tie when your cards are ranked higher in value than the other person’s cards.

Example: 4 of spades, 6 of spades, 7 of spades, 10 of spades, and jack of spades



Straight:

When you have five cards in numerical order, no matter what suit they are, you have a straight. Again, no wrap around values can apply here. The ace and the two can not combine to form a straight. If there is a tie, then whoever’s straight is the highest in value wins the hand.

Example: 4 of hearts, 5 of spades, 6 of hearts, 7 of diamonds, 8 of clubs.



Three Of A Kind:

A three of a kind is just what it sounds like. In a three of a kind you have three cards that have the same numerical rank and then two random cards in addition. There shouldn’t be a pair here.

Example: 8 of spades, 8 of diamonds, 8 of hearts, 3 of hearts, and a 7 of spades.



Two Pair:

Here, you have two sets of pairs in your hand plus one random card.

Example: 8 of clubs, 8 of spades, 4 of diamonds, 4 of hearts, and a jack of spades.


One Pair:

If you only have one pair of cards in your hand with three other random cards, this is a one pair. If there is more than one person that gets this type of hand, the person whose cards rank the highest in numerical value wins the hand for their hand of cards.

Example: 5 of spades, 5 of hearts, 3 of diamonds, jack of spades, and a king of clubs.

High Card:

The final value is the high card. Here, if no other players will have any cards that rank like those listed above, the player that is holding the highest valued card wins the hand. The ace is the highest value, the two the lowest. When someone has a tie with another player, the player who has the next highest card wins the hand.

Example: 2 of spades, four of diamonds, a 7 of hearts, a 10 of diamonds and a queen of hearts.
